SDGE extends “super off-peak” hours

Starting May 1, 2026, SDG&E is expanding its "Super Off-Peak" pricing to include 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on weekdays, offering customers up to 20% savings on electricity bills. This initiative encourages shifting high-energy usage—like running dishwashers, laundry, or charging electric vehicles—to midday, when solar energy is abundant.
New Times: Monday – Friday, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Existing Times: Daily, 12 a.m. – 6 a.m.
Weekends/Holidays: 12 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Applicability: Requires a Time of Use (TOU) plan.
This change aims to lower costs for residential customers while supporting a greener grid, providing year-round opportunities for savings rather than only during spring

Ocean Kamp surf park + mixed use development officially under construction in Oceanside

Ocean Kamp is a 92-acre, $390 million mixed-use "lifestyle community" development in Oceanside, California, featuring San Diego County's first major artificial surf lagoon. Located near Highway 76 and Foussat Road, it includes a 3.5-acre wave pool, 700 residential units, a 300-room hotel, and retail space, with completion anticipated in 2027.
Plans feature 134,000 square feet of retail and office space, along with an 18,000-square-foot conference building. It is situated on the former site of a drive-in theater and swap meet, offering easy access to the coast. The development faced previous delays due to lawsuits, environmental reviews, and the discovery of Native American artifacts, but is moving forward after receiving unanimous approval from the Oceanside Planning Commission.

A huge 93-acre park is coming to Carlsbad

Veterans Memorial Park will be Carlsbad’s largest community park, located on 93.7 acres near the intersection of Faraday Avenue and Cannon Road. Over half of the land will remain as undisturbed habitat, protecting native wildlife and vegetation. The park will be physically separated into two distinct areas (north and south), which transition through passive uses and open space to a prominent public art element at the high point of the site.
The northern hub will feature the Memorial Plaza, with displays honoring veterans and service members of the six military branches. The southern hub will center on a pump track for cyclists. Both hubs will include restrooms, pathways, picnic areas and spaces for community gatherings. An inclusive playground will connect the two hubs.
